We’re shortlisted for a Dynamites 25 Award!
1 October 2025
Scott Logic has been shortlisted in the Remarkable Innovation category at the Dynamites 25 Awards. Our shortlisted nomination was for the Technology Carbon Standard, an innovative approach developed by Scott Logic, which enables organisations to map, measure and mitigate the carbon footprint of their technology estates.
Now in their twelfth year, the Dynamites are the North East of England’s most highly anticipated IT and Technology awards. The Remarkable Innovation Award recognises organisations that are creating services, processes, or products shaping the future of the dynamic North East industry, redefining norms and demonstrating a commitment to progress.
As a business, Scott Logic’s purpose is to create opportunity and sustainable prosperity through technical innovation, and our Social Mission commits us to initiating innovative ways to create opportunity in our communities and society at large, and to safeguard the future of the natural environment. The development and launch in 2024 of the Technology Carbon Standard is a manifestation of that commitment.
Organisations in the UK must comply with a range of regulations to monitor and report on carbon emissions, and to set targets to reduce them. Scott Logic designed the Technology Carbon Standard to provide a method, structure and data format for analysing an organisation's technology carbon footprint, aiming to simplify and standardise a complex task, and make it easier to identify areas for improvement. To promote the widest possible uptake of this innovative tool, we shared it under a Creative Commons licence.
Scott Logic’s Public Sector Director Suzanne Angell said, “At Scott Logic, we’re passionate about creating social value, both through our client work and our contributions to the wider community. The Technology Carbon Standard is a great example of that, and we’re proud that it is now cited in the Government’s Service Manual as a useful resource for organisations complying with the Greening Government Commitments.”
Since the Standard’s launch, companies including DS Smith and Kingfisher have already leveraged it to take action on their technology emissions. The standard’s extensibility allows us to keep developing it to support the evolving needs of organisations. In September this year, we released an update addressing the carbon footprint of Large Language Models (LLMs), with plans to broaden the scope to include other areas of AI in future updates. In this way, we hope the Technology Carbon Standard will have a lasting impact by helping organisations reduce their carbon footprint, even as new technologies emerge.
The award winners will be announced at a ceremony at Newcastle Civic Centre on 20 November 2025. The very best of luck to our fellow shortlisted nominees!
