We’re ahead of target in pursuit of our Net Zero goal
29 May 2025
We have published our latest Environmental Impact Report, which documents Scott Logic’s carbon footprint in 2024, describes what we’re doing to reduce our environmental impact, and sets out our roadmap to net zero.
2024 Carbon Footprint
In the calendar year 2024, our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from all business-related activities totalled 530 tCO₂e (Tonnes of Carbon Dioxide Equivalent), a reduction from 1,002 tCO₂e in 2023. Overall, we have already reduced our annual emissions by 65% from our 2021 baseline, and our per-employee intensity ratio has similarly decreased from the baseline measurement by two-thirds.
Our 2024 actuals came out 341 tCO₂e (25.4%) lower than our modelled reduction targets. Back in 2021, we aimed to reach >50% emissions reduction across GHG Protocol Scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2030, so we’re six years ahead of that target.
Some high-level observations about our performance include:
- We made a big step forward in cutting emissions from business travel this year, undoing the rise we saw in 2023.
- Our success is in part due to constraint of headcount and operational growth of the business relative to plan, and a lack of capital goods expenditure.
- The combination of significantly reduced emissions and increased carbon offset investments meant we were not just Carbon Neutral (ahead of our 2028 target), but actually Carbon Positive.
As well as summarising our performance in 2024, our Environmental Impact Report provides more information about our carbon offset investments and charts the milestones on Scott Logic’s journey to net zero.
